Yesterday I went to my first ever food bloggers networking event. The theme of the seminar was food photography and using vivid images to take websites to the next level.
This topic is definitely one of personal interest. I always like to include images in my blog posts because words paired with a strong visual image always makes the whole article much more captivating and I personally think it just makes the whole website prettier! Wouldn’t you agree?
So yesterday HealthCastle hosted the event, inviting 3 panelists to speak about their journey on how they started blogging, how they developed their food photography style over time and most importantly offered invaluable tips to better blogging.
I certainly learned a lot from the panelists and feel super inspired!
If I could just sum up the seminar in one sentence, it would definitely be this one: Be consistent, put in the effort, be a little silly and allow yourself to be vulnerable and just show yourself to the world!
Yes, it is a long message but it is one that I find very meaningful.
I must admit that the many posts I did before were all a bit uptight. I rarely talked about myself, and even if I did, it would be revealing very little about how I really am. In short, my articles lacked personality and my readers definitely didn’t get a chance to see (or read about?) the real me. I was posting, but I wasn’t telling stories!
And I think that’s the prime reason why Nutritious Plate always seemed to lack flare and despite how passionate I am about food and nutrition, my readers could not easily connect with me and sense the passion that’s within me.
So! Now after spending some time asking for advice from these experienced and successful bloggers, I feel once again extremely motivated to put myself out there. To truly, honestly share with you and show you what food means to me and hopefully infect you with my positive energy!
So, get ready readers!
P.S. My crazy busy Dietetic Internship is coming to an end in 2 weeks…so I shall very soon have much more time I can dedicate to Nutritious Plate. I can’t wait!

That’s a good “take-away”. Being open and showing personality is something I’ve really struggled with on my blog. I guess I’m just too analytical.
Looking forward to your future posts.
Thanks Mark! I think as bloggers we tend to over-analyze and worry about how others think. But I’m definitely trying to get out of that mindset now. Will certainly continue to work on that in the future.
